NEW YORK-- (Reuters) - The prescription drug industry's share price fell 1.6 percent in the week ended Oct. 27, an increase of 4.7 percent a day after the U. S. Food and Drug Administration reported that more than 7 million patients had used the arthritis drug Celebrex.

The market was down 1.3 percent on Dec. 6, and the market share rose again to a low of 11.5 percent, according to IMS Health Inc. in a note.
The drugmaker's sales totaled about $3.5 billion, or nearly $2.6 billion, and its revenue was $2.6 billion, or about $1.5 billion, according to IMS.

"We are still trying to figure out what the best way to reduce the cost of Celebrex is," the company's CEO, Heather Breslow, told Reuters.
She said the company will discuss a new marketing plan with Pfizer in the next two weeks.
Pfizer said it will offer Celebrex for less than $400 a day, with a maximum of $800 for a month's supply.
The FDA said the drugmaker is offering to pay for the cost of Celebrex, which would be the cost of an entire $12 billion in revenue in the U.
In a statement, Pfizer said it was pleased to receive the company's assistance and is working with the FDA to help fund the development of the drug.
Pfizer shares fell 5 percent to $16.36 on the New York Stock Exchange. The stock's closing price in New York is $11.20.
